BJP makes fun of HDK's statement
Karnataka's new Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday seemed to have committed a faux pas when he openly declared that he is at the "mercy of the Congress and not the 6.50 crore people of Karnataka". He meant to say that he needs the support of the Grand Old Party to be in power for the reason that JDS got a mere 38 seats.
The statement, however, has been seen as offensive by the opposition BJP. "Kumaraswamy must apologize for his statement. I want to remind him that he took oath as the Chief Minister to serve the people of Karnataka and not the Congress party. He cannot work as the CM of Congress party. It is clear that Kumaraswamy is at the mercy of Congress," BS Yeddyurappa today remarked.
While HDK is indeed at the Congress's mercy, a CM saying it openly can have a negative fallout for both him and his patrons.
