Ahead of Narendra Modi's address to the nation Thursday night, there are speculations that he will impose a lockdown on cities and towns. This has created panic in large sections of people
As per credible sources, the Prime Minister has no such plans. Shashi Shekhar, the CEO of Prasar Bharati, today said, "Some media outlets are speculating that PM Modi will announce a lockdown in his national address. This information is incorrect. It will also create unnecessary panic in the minds of people, which is the last thing we need in times like this."
Some fake news of a lockdown is also doing the rounds. "Please note: There are a lot of circulars doing rounds suggesting lockdown in India. This is FAKE news! As of now, no lockdown has been ordered by the government. Only social distancing protocols are in place," a bureaucrat said regarding this.
