Huge liquor consumption in Kerala despite floods!
As per data released by Kerala administration, liquor worth Rs. 516 Cr was consumed in the state in the 10 days since the floods receded. This huge figure has shocked many!
Some are believing that the consumption was not affected because a major festival (Onam) happened in the intervening period.
The state had the century's worst floods, causing a loss of more than Rs. 20,000 Cr. Destruction of private and public property was massive. Many sections of the poor have lost their hearth. In this situation, buying liquor would be considered a luxury.
