Hyd: Hostelites scramble for police permission forms
Hostel students living in areas such as Ameerpet, SR Nagar, Gachibowli and Madhapur in Hyderabad have been left in the lurch due to the cancellation of means of transport and the imposition of a national lockdown.
Many hostel managements have asked them to immediately vacate. However, there is no way the hostel inmates can reach their hometowns when travel is banned.
Therefore, the police are issuing permission forms to enable their travel. Thousands of students are crowding in at police stations in different areas to get the forms.
This is putting everyone at risk. What is unfolding is ridiculous, to say the least. Social distancing has been thrown to winds.
KTR has asked the GHMC Commissioner to talk to hostel managements and make them run the hostels as usual. But students/employees, who have nothing to do in Hyderabad till April 14, want to go out of town at any cost.
