India should attack COVID-19 aggressively: WHO
Since India is a densely-populated country, it has to fight COVID-19 aggressively, the WHO has said.
"India, like China, is hugely populated and the future of COVID-19 to a great extent will be determined by what happens in densely-populated large countries. It is really important that India continues to take aggressive action at public health level," the body's Executive Director Dr Michael J Ryan has said.
He added that India has led the world in eradicating two silent killers, namely, Small Pox and Polio. "India has tremendous capacities, all countries have tremendous capacities when communities and civil societies are mobilized," he added.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has welcomed his statement.
