Indians are buying pressure cookers like never before
More and more Indians are buying pressure cookers. There is a reason why they are doing so. It's thanks to the NDA government's Ujjwala scheme, which has distributed 5 crore free LPG connections across India to poor families since 2015.
Those who use LPG are bound to use pressure cookers. Thus, there is an uptick in sales. As per an industry expert, cooker sales in India are going to grow at a rate of 10 percent or so from 5 percent till now.
Where is the maximum potential? Rural India. It's because hardly 30 percent rural households are estimated to use pressure cookers as of now.
While Ujjawala is not the sole reason for the increase in sales, it's a major reason.
