Kamal doesn't care about Brahmin votes?
"There is one 'nool' (thread) that I was affected most; the 'poonool' (sacred thread). That is why I avoided it," Kamal Haasan said on Sunday during an informal chit-chat.
His statement has come to be seen as deliberately insulting to Brahminism by many. Quite a few commentators have tried to decipher the motives (if any) behind the actor-politician making those "controversial" remarks.
It's said that Kamal is happy to "alienate the Brahmin vote" in his state. The Makkal Needhi Maiam politico, who loves Periyar's ideology, is not averse to antagonizing Brahmins, say analysts.
The complaint of many Brahmins is that the 'Vishwaroopam-2' and 'Sabaash Naidu' actor shouldn't have made the remarks about avoiding the sacred thread. They feel it's part of his attempts to win over the Dravidian-Periyarist vote in Tamil Nadu.
