Kamal Nath has on Friday submitted his resignation as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to Governor Lalji Tandon. The Congress party had lost its majority in the Assembly following the acceptance of the resignation of 22 MLAs by the Speaker on Thursday.
"All that has happened in the State in the last two weeks is a new chapter in the weakening of democratic principles," Kamal Nath said in his resignation letter, blaming the BJP for staging a coup.
"Since the time I came to power, I have worked for the progress of MP. The BJP had got 15 years. I got only 15 months. During this time, the people of MP came to know of the conspiracy that the BJP has hatched right from the day I got into power. Twenty-two of our MLAs were held captive in Bengaluru," Kamal Nath said.
Recently, Jyotiraditya Scindia quit the Congress and joined the saffron party.
