Men harassed by women are too many
Several NGOs fighting for men’s rights in India reportedly receive over 10,000 distress calls from male victims every year. The victims could be those affected by anything from domestic violence to sexual harassment and different forms of matrimonial disputes.
Ritwik Bisaria of Men’s Welfare Trust has been quoted as saying by a report that the skewed Indian laws, which disfavour men, are one of the reasons why men are increasingly being harassed by wives, girlfriends, bosses, etc, especially in cities.
Many men are intimidated and blackmailed by women, who slap bogus cases on them to extract money or simply to derive sadistic pleasure. A live-in relationship that goes wrong, for example, could end up finishing the career of the man.
Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, which is related to domestic violence, has been misused for decades now.
