Modi has no plan to scrap Article 35A
A report has quoted government sources as saying that the Modi government has no plans to repeal Article 35A pertaining to special provisions for Jammu & Kashmir as of now. There has been so much talk around this controversial Article, especially in the wake of thousands of additional security forces getting deployed in Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah have also talked about panic in the State. So, on the face of it, a plan to change the status-quo is in the air.
The Centre is said to be making the deployment of security forces because it is anticipating terror attacks, backed by Pakistan's ISI and rogue elements of the Pak Army. This time, Prime Minister Imran Khan may be interested in giving tacit support to a "spectacular terror strike" so that American intervention in Kashmir can be made possible in the future. All this is happening days after Donald Trump said that Modi requested him to mediate in Kashmir.
Everything is just a matter of speculation at this point of time.
