Nizamuddin mosque event: Foreigners to be blacklisted
From March 13-15, a religious meet at Delhi's Nizamuddin mosque saw the attendance of thousands, including 1500 devouts from the Telugu States. With about 200 of the attendees reporting COVID-19 symptoms, on Monday night, the event has become the biggest talking point around the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country. As of Tuesday morning, 300 attendees have been hospitalized in different parts of the country.
As per reports, as many as 8000 people from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, and Bangladesh, among others, attended the Tablighi Jamaat event. About 800 of them attended in violation of their visa rules. They came here on a tourist visa, while they should have come on a missionary visa or religious visa. They will now be blacklisted by the Home Ministry.
The Nizamuddin cluster spread is by the far the biggest health challenge faced by the country in the wake of COVID-19.
