Ola creates a fund for poor drivers
With lakhs of auto drivers, cabbies, etc. across the country left without daily incomes due to the ongoing national lockdown, Ola has set up a fund named 'Drive The Driver' to help them out monetarily. Ola Foundation is seeking donations from Ola's employees, investors and the general public.
"Millions of drivers and their families find themselves without a source of income today. To support them, we are launching the ‘Drive the Driver’ fund. I am contributing my next year's salary and Ola, along with its employees, will contribute Rs 20 Cr to the fund," said Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder and CEO of Ola.
Estimates say that the gig economy has suffered losses to the tune of hundreds of crores already.
