Open liquor shops during lockdown: Rishi Kapoor
Bollywood veteran Rishi Kapoor has advocated that the government should allow liquor shops to be opened for some time in the evenings during the national lockdown. The senior, who is known for politically incorrect views, said that this will generate revenue for the states.
"Think. The government should for sometime in the evening open all licensed liquor stores. Don’t get me wrong. Men will be at home only, what with all this depression, uncertainty around. Cops, doctors, civilians, etc need some release. Black mein to sell ho hi raha hai. State governments desperately need money from excise taxes. Frustration should not led to depression. As it is pee to rahe hain legalize kar do no hypocrisy. My thoughts," Kapoor tweeted out on Saturday.
The veteran's "Legalize what is already part of the black market" doesn't make sense at an exceptional time like this. The idea behind the ban is to prevent crowds at liquor shops, not to kill the black economy.
