Popular Commentator' take on AB De Villiers' retirement
Former South African captain AB de Villiers is not going to play international cricket anymore. In no format. In no way. This comes into effect immediately!
"After 114 Test matches, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is, it is time for others to take over. I have had my turn and to be honest, I am tired. This is a tough decision, I thought long and hard about it and I would like to retire while still playing decent cricket," he said today.
Says cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, "Must admit to being a bit shocked by @ABdeVilliers17 decision to quit all international cricket. We knew it was coming but I thought he would give the World Cup another shot." What about the T20 format? "When he says it isn't about playing abroad, I wonder if he turning his back on T20 cricket too. There isn't just a lot of money to be made there but much joy to be delivered too," Bhogle ponders.
