Producer justifies 'Saakshyam' budget

'Saakshyam' is one of the priciest movies of the year.  Allegedly made at a budget of more than Rs. 35 CR, the supernatural thriller has been produced by Abhishek Pictures' Abhishek Nama.

Was the gamble required?  "The budget was very much needed.  Budget is driven by the content.  The film is based on the five elements of Nature.  Now, if an action episode is to be shot around the theme of water, it can't be done totally underwater.  Graphics are needed.  If the director needs to shoot something in Kashi, I can't ask him to recreate it in Hyderabad. The scenes have to be shot only there," Nama says in his interview.

He is upbeat that EROS International has bought the film most recently.  "I know the risks involved in filmmaking.  As a distributor, our distribution company would buy movies without even watching the final output.  We would lay hands on a film going by the content in the Trailer," he notes, adding that he is confident about the strength of Saakshyam's content.

The film, directed by Sriwass and starring Bellamkonda Srinivas and Pooja Hegde, will hit the cinemas on July 27.
