Rajini blames it on anti-social elements
Rajinikanth was today in Tamil Nadu'sThoothukudi, where the recent anti-Sterlite protests took a violent turn. The actor-turned-politician received a thumping response from locals, early news reports say.
Speaking to the press after meeting victims in a hospital, the superstar said, "Anti-social elements did cause the violence during the recent protest. It had earlier happened during the Jallikattu protest campaign as well. My opinion is that such violent protests can severely affect the business prospects of Tamil Nadu. Employment opportunities for youth will eventually suffer."
"I announce Rs 2 lakhs each for the kin of victims who died in the protest," the superstar said.
Earlier in the day, Rajini expressed hope that the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce will deliberate with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce over the ban on 'Kaala' in Karnataka.
