Sehwag appalled by school textbook
"A large family consists of parents, grandparents and lots of children. A large family cannot enjoy a happy life". This is what a school textbook in India says. Virender Sehwag has heavily criticized this reckless statement that goes against Indian ethos that value the joint family system.
"A lot of such crap in school textbooks. Clearly, the authorities deciding and reviewing content not doing their homework," the former cricketer has noted.
After he shared a screenshot of the objectionable statement, several commentators on social media started highlighting the "lapse". Psephologist Yashwant Deshmukh said, "I had seen the same kind of stuff in my niece textbooks as well. Not only this; it straightforward said 'joint families are unhappy families and nuclear families are happy families'. Unable to understand how and why the HRD Ministry allows such crap in primary text books?"
