Sub-titles mandatory before censor: CBFC
The CBFC has mandated that sub-titles should be mandatorily submitted by the filmmakers before a film is certified. So, from now, even sub-titles will be subjected to censorship. So far, almost all movies add subs much after censor certification.
The latest decision will help the producers to release subs after a film's release in India.
“The rationale behind the impugned notice is to curb the mischief noticed in a number of films where subtitles were introduced or added after the film’s certification by the CBFC. This amounts to an alteration in the film. This mischief needs to be plugged or curbed,” the CBFC had said in an affidavit filed with the Bombay High Court last month.
