What critics are saying about Modi's speech
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today delivered his last speech (for this term) from the ramparts of Red Fort. While he spoke of his government's "many achievements", his critics have different things to say.
"No mention by Modi of demonetization in his list of achievements. This is good. Now maybe the troll army can also stop pretending that a batshit crazy move that caused vast suffering for no good reason was some kind of policy masterstroke," said columnist Sadanand Dhume.
"PM Modiji announced India's first-ever manned space mission by 2022 from the Red Fort. Damn! Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi & Mallya will have to wait for 3 more years before they leave," said a sarcastic Atul Khatri. Surely, it would have helped had Modi ensured these figutives were back in India by now?
However, not everyone is in a bashing mode.
Summarizaing Modi's I-Day speeches so far, ANI editor Smita Prakash wrote, "2014 speech was about I am an outsider, new to corridors of power in Delhi. 2015 was all about 'team India' which he mentioned 25 times in speech, 2016 shocked with Balochistan mention, 2017 was defending demonitisation & GST, 2018 manned space mission: Modi's 5 times at RedFort."
