What is KCR's strategy?
K Chandrasekhar Rao has been seen as a strong anti-Modi voice and a star proponent of Federal Front. But his sincerity has come into question with him not coming forward to support Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in his fight against the Centre.
The Telangana CM was expected to share camaraderie with WB CM Mamata Banerjee, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy and Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, all of whom have supported Kejriwal. But he has not gone to Delhi to do the same.
What explains KCR's failure to show opposition unity? It's said that he is not ready to walk the talk on an anti-BJP Federal Front. KCR's main agenda is to ruin the Congress's chances in 2019 at the national level, some analysts say. In Telangana, he would wish the BJP to split the anti-incumbent vote to the TRS' advantage.
But KCR will definitely oppose Modi overtly so as to improve his "profile", says a columnist.
