WhatsApp ban? It's much ado about nothing:
Recently, certain portals have claimed that WhatsApp could be considered for a blanket ban in India in the wake of findings that terrorists are using WhatsApp voice and video calls for communication. WhatsApp makes it impossible for the security agencies to intercept its calls due to end-to-end encryption.
Earlier, Indian intelligence agencies were found to be finding it difficult to get the cooperation of giants like Facebook and WhatsApp with respect to terror probes. They openly complained of a lack of cooperation from internet giants in terror investigations. Since these companies are headquartered in foreign locations, getting them submit to the demands of Indian agencies is very difficult.
However, it's far-fetched to say that the Centre is keen on banning WhatsApp. At best, the government will only think of framing stringent laws to ensure that internet giants will listen to the reasonable demands of Indian agencies.
