Will RGV's vision create new-age filmmakers?
By launching a film institute named RGV Unschool, Ram Gopal Varma has sounded the bugle for an unconventional training set-up to school aspiring filmmakers. He has teamed up with New York-based Dr. Ram Swaroop and Dr. Swetha Reddy in this endeavour.
RGV says, "The idea is to instigate a radical process of producing filmmakers by making them unlearn traditional methods of filmmaking and make them discover their own individualistic and expressionist form of filmmaking. Any art begins only when one sheds set patterns, and true freedom of artistic expression occurs only when one is beyond systems. Regardless of their many legendary and holier than thou origins, any style is eventually created by a man and hence should not be taken as a gospel truth."
The 'Officer' director is rooting for new-age filmmakers by establishing the school. But his success depends on how well he and his fellow founders succeed in admitting the best aspirants. He has floated a recruitment process by asking some questions to applicants. Whoever gives the best answers will be shortlisted for the second round.
