Yunnan in China registers first Hantavirus case

As reported by Global Times, a person from Yunnan Province has been found dead due to Hantavirus.  He died while on his way back to Shandong province for work on a chartered bus.  Following his death, contact-tracing of his fellow passengers was done and they were all tested.

As things stand, there is nothing to worry about Hantavirus.  “These viruses normally infect rodents, but do not cause disease in them. Humans may become infected with hantaviruses through contact with rodent urine, saliva, or feces," a Twitter user quotes a report as saying.

Like coronavirus, it is not a new virus.  As of now, there is nothing to suggest that it's a new strain of hantavirus that has been detected in Yunnan.
