'Mirzapur', one of the most popular web shows in India, has landed Amazon Prime Video in trouble. The OTT platform has been slapped with a notice by the Supreme Court for allegedly projecting Uttar Pradesh in a negative light in the web series.
The makers of the web series as well as Amazon Prime Video have received notices over a petition filed recently. The petition says that 'Mirzapur' hurts the religious, social and regional sentiments and also damages social harmony.
This is the second time this year that the OTT platform is in the news over a web series. 'Tandav', starring Saif Ali Khan and others, has been trolled for "hurting Hindu sentiments". The makers of the show have apologized and promised to make amends. BJP leader Kapil Mishra had taken up the issue with the I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar.
