BCCI suspends Prithvi Shaw, cricketer is shaken
The talented U-19 cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been suspended by the BCCI after a urine sample tested positive for the banned substance Terbutaline. His ban ends on November 15.
Breaking his silence on the suspension, Shaw said that he took an over-the-counter cough syrup in February. "I accept my fate with all sincerity. While I am still nursing an injury that I suffered during my last tournament, this news has really shaken me," Shaw said.
"I have to take this in my stride and hope it inspires others in my sports fraternity in India that we as athletes need to be extremely careful in taking any medicine for the smallest of medical ailments even if the medicine is available over the counter and we always need to follow the protocol. Cricket is my life and there is no bigger pride for me than to play cricket for India and Mumbai," he added.
