Two developments in the last few weeks have energized the morale of BJP's core supporters. They are: the bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir by annulling Article 370, and the hot pursuit of P Chidambaram in a high-profile corruption case.
BJP is an ideological party and its core supporters are important to it. At this juncture, their expectations from the Modi government are at an all-time high. "The first term didn't see any movement on core aspects such as Ram Mandir, Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code. The second of these stands completed. UCC will be discussed by the Law Commission. Ram Mandir, too, could happen in 2 years," a commentator says.
"In less than 100 days, Modi 2.0 has proved that he means business. Amit Shah is there to boost the Hindutva image of the party. History books should be purged of their Marxist content next. Also, a strong anti-conversion law must be enacted, now that Rajya Sabha numbers are not a problem," another commentator writes.
With these happening, the supporters see that the Modi-Shah duo will leave a strong legacy.
