Canadian PM says sorry for racist celebration
Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in the news for a racist celebration he indulged in when he was 29. Back in 2001, he participated in a party where he wore a turban and blackened his face at an Arabian Nights party.
The pic has surfaced now, thanks to a tabloid. His opponents and critics have termed Trudeau's behaviour racist. "The privilege continues. There is no excuse for this. An apology is a first step. You should be aware of the history of #blackface and racism in this country and others. Apparently diversity is our strength? Deeply disappointed," a Member of Parliament said.
Following the row, the PM has apologized for his shenanigan.
