AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has told the news agency ANI that he is suspicious about what the Modi government might do to the Shaheen Bagh protests (against the CAA, in Delhi) after February 8 (the date on which Delhi Assembly polls will be held).
Owaisi suggested that the government might use force to put an end to the protest. It might use the force of bullets the way the Britishers used against agitators at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919.
He also demanded that the Centre must assure that a National Register of Citizens won't be conducted before 2024. The parliamentarian also found fault with the idea of the National Population Register. "Just as Hitler conducted two Census before sending Jews to gas chambers, this government too is doing the same," Owaisi commented.
