Centre to work with MPs to handle water crisis

As a commentator recently put it, India's water crisis is not in the future.  It's already here.  And the Centre is showing intent to stem the rot of water crisis by seeking to act on various fronts.

Recently, the NDA government came up with the idea of a Jal Shakti Ministry, under which all water-related departments have been brought.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke of one more step to prevent the crisis from worsening.  "There are 226 districts in the country where there is water crisis. I am trying to mobilize everyone to tackle this situation.  The MPLAD scheme will be leveraged to resolve water issues. We also have to make society aware on water," he said in the Parliament.
