The demise of SP Balasubrahmanyam on Friday has come as an extremely sad piece of news. The singer of 40,000 songs in 16 languages, the perfectionist, the gifted singer who set unreachable standards for other singers has been flooded with rich tributes all over.
Chiranjeevi took to Twitter and described him as a genius who had no match. "This is the darkest day for the world of music," he added, thanking SPB for lifting his career through his songs. "His melodious voice transcended linguistic, cultural boundaries and enchanted audiences across India for decares. There can never be another SPB," the Megastar said.
Rajinikanth posted a video message, in which the superstar looked in loss for words.
Mahesh Babu wrote, "Unable to process the fact that #SPBalasubramaniam garu is no more. Nothing will ever come close to that soulful voice of his. Rest in peace sir. Your legacy will live on. Heartfelt condolences and strength to the family." 
Jr NTR said, "Indian Music has lost its favourite son. Devastated! In a Legendary career spanning over five decades,Padma Bhushan S.P Balasubrahmanyam Garu has breathed life into over 40,000 songs. As long as music exists in this universe, you will live on sir."
SS Rajamouli tweeted that although SPB was a Telugu, Tamils and Kannadigas have always thought that he is one of their own. Such is the impact he created in every language, the 'Baahubali' director added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Balu is a household name across India.
