College girl Richa Bharti trends on social media
Richa Bharti is barely in her college. The young girl from Jharkhand has been trending on social media and there is a curious reason for this.
Recently, Richa made a Facebook post in which she asked why most terrorists are only from a particular community. She was reacting to a TikTok video made by a few Muslim men after the lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand a few weeks ago. In the video, the men are seen saying that nobody should call him a terrorist if Ansari's son were to become a terrorist to avenge his father's murder.
Richa's rebuttal went on these lines: "Kashmiri Pandits have been driven out of their homes and none from the community ever became a terrorist. Why?"
A Muslim group lodged a police complaint against the college girl for the video. Within just two hours, the Ranchi police arrested the girl and jailed her for two days. She was later released.
A Ranchi court heard the case and ordered that Richa would be let off on the condition that she will distribute five copies of the Holy Quran.
The girl has refused. "Today, they are asking me to distribute the Quran. Tomorrow, they might ask me to convert to Islam and do Namaz. I won't obey the order. Has anyone ever asked Muslims to distribute copies of the Gita and Hanuman Chalisa?" Richa asked.
For this, she has been trending on social media since Tuesday. About Rs 7 lakh has been raised from crowds to fund the legal expenses of her fight.
