Congress MLA says Rahul should apologize to farmers
A Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh has today said that Rahul Gandhi should duly apologize to the farming community for reneging on the promise of farm loan waiver made to them in the run-up to last year's Assembly elections in the State. Although the Kamal Nath government had issued waiver certificates to farmers after it came to power last December, banks are yet to waive loans. There are several implementational issues.
In this context, Congress leader and former MP CM Digvijaya Singh's brother Lakshman Singh said, "Rahul Gandhi Ji should apologise to the farmers and clarify to them how long it will take for loan waiver. It will send a good message to the farmers who are angry."
He also said that the party will be able to come to power in 2024 only if the central leadership meets with leaders and engages them on a regular basis. "So far, only a few leaders have been preferred for meets," he said.
