Covid-19: Jaipur, Indore, Chennai, Bengaluru to be 'role-models'

Jaipur in Rajasthan, Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, and Bengaluru in Karnataka have been identified by the Centre as role-models in handling Covid-19 through innovative ways.

As per a Hindustan Times report, the Centre believes that Jaipur and Indore have shown the way in handling a "high caseload".  On the other hand, Chennai and Bengaluru have been able to keep their mortality rates low.

Below are the merits observed in the aforementioned cities.

Indore and Jaipur: Models in aggressively conducting house-to-house surveys, contact tracing.

Chennai and Bangaluru: Despite a sizeable number of confirmed cases, the mortality rate is just 1%, much lower than the national average of around 3%.  Their major achievement lies in optimizing the use of ventilators.  They have also been able to ascertain the degree of urgency in cases while handling a large number of patients.
