Drugs issue: Jaya Bachchan versus BJP MP Ravi Kishan
Yesteryear star actress and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday said in the Parliament that the entertainment industry's members have been targeted (over the emerging drugs scandal). She found fault with Lok Sabha MP Ravi Kishan's recent remarks.

"People in the entertainment industry are being flogged on social media. Those who made their names, thanks to the film industry, have called it a gutter," Jaya Bachchan said, adding that she hopes the government asks such people to change their language.

The veteran politician, who recently recovered from COVID-19, further said that the whole industry can't be tarnished over the misdeeds of a few. "I am ashamed that one of our members in Lok Sabha (referring to actor-politician Ravi Kishan), who is from the film industry, spoke against it. It is a shame," the Samajwadi Party MP opined.

Responding to her views, BJP MP Ravi Kishan, who was seen in popular Telugu films like 'Race Gurram', said that not everyone in the industry consumes drugs but "those who do are part of a plan to finish the world's
largest film industry".

Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter to ask a few questions of Bachchan. "Jaya ji would you say the same thing if in my place it was your daughter Shweta beaten, drugged and molested as a teenager, would you say the same thing if Abhishek (Bachchan) complained about bullying and harassment constantly and found hanging one day? Show compassion for us also," the 'Queen' actress tweeted.
