Former cricketer kills himself, details here
Former Indian cricketer VB Chandrasekhar has left everyone shocked by committing suicide. Survived by his wife and two daughters, the 57-year-old former international player's demise has been confirmed by Mylapore police in Chennai.
"It's suspected that heavy financial losses incurred by his cricket league team VB Kanchi Veerans is the reason for his depression. He took the extreme decision because he had mortgaged his property to secure a loan of Rs 3 Cr from a bank and saw no avenues to come out of the trap," a source says.
A coaching centre was also run by him and it too was not making profits.
There was a time when VB shone like a star in the IPL universe. "He was instrumental in bringing MS Dhoni to CSK. He raised the stakes of the game by raising the paddle in the first-ever IPL auction in 2008 to USD 1.5 million to bring Dhoni," says Joy Bhattacharjya.
