Health Minister replies to Manmohan Singh's letter
On Sunday, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to the Government of India, urging it to take up some definitive steps. The Congress leader came up with a five-point proposal.
On Monday, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan replied to Singh. "In all humility, a word of advice to you as well, Dr Manmohan Singh ji! A learned man of your stature could do well to surround himself with better advisors. All suggestions given by you have been implemented a week prior to your letter. PS: There's value in staying updated! (sic)," the BJP leader tweeted, sharing the letter.
In the letter, the Health Minister alleged that several Congress leaders have been spreading falsehoods about the vaccines. He also said that India is the only developing country where two vaccine candidates have already been in use.
Singh had suggested that all vaccines that have been approved by the likes of FDA and WHO have to be approved by India. Harsh Vardhan said that the decision was taken on April 18, before the former PM wrote the letter.
