A Bureau of Indian Standards study says that the quality of tap water in Hyderabad is the best in India, only after that of Mumbai. So, standing at No. 2, Hyderabad (and Bhubaneswar) have definitely covered themselves in glory.
The BIS had secured 11 samples from various cities and towns in India to test the quality of water. Ranchi, Raipur, Amaravati, Shimla, Chandigarh, Thiruvananthapuram, Patna and Bhopal, Guwahati, Bengaluru have secured the next ranks. So, the tap water quality of Amaravati at No. 5 is also positive news.
Notably, water quality in Delhi is ranked very low. Reacting to it, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "Any city's water quality cannot be judged on basis of 11 samples. Moreover, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan ji isn't disclosing where were samples taken from. I will take 5 samples from each ward of Delhi, get it checked and put data in public."
Giving a counter, Paswan said, "There should be no politics on this issue. I will appoint 2-3 senior officials and the Delhi government should also appoint 2-3 officials who can conduct inquiry and get water samples checked. We will put the report in public."
