Yogendra Yadav, who has been leading farmer protests in Punjab and Delhi, has said that he is taking full responsibility for the mayhem that unfolded on the streets of the capital on Republic Day.
Speaking to the media, the activist-turned-politician said that he is feeling ashamed of the way things proceeded as someone who is a part of the protests.
Despite his apology, many Netizens are demanding his arrest. He is also seen as being undemocratic. Columnist Abhishek Banerjee wrote, "On the day of Bihar election results, Yogendra Yadav told a TV channel that elections are not the big happening place in politics. This frustrated and evil man has long been an anti-democracy activist. On R-Day, you could probably see what he really meant."
H Raja, the BJP leader from Tamil Nadu said that Yogendra Yadav is a professional agitationist who headed the Tukde Tukde agitation in the JNU in Delhi. "He also headed violence in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. Now he is heading Khalisthanis," Raja tweeted.
