India sees a huge 24-hour spike in Covid-19 cases
The highest single-day spike of 7,466 coronavirus cases was seen in the last 24 hours in India. As per a health bulletin issued by the government, the period saw 175 deaths.

"Total number of cases in the country now at 1,65,799.  This includes 89,987 active cases, 71,105 cured/discharged/migrated and 4,706 deaths," the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Prof. Shamika Ravi has said that Maharashtra's highest growth of active cases in the last 5 days is finally slowing.  "Large recoveries in most states have been reported.  Active cases are growing in West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka, Assam, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, and Himachal Pradesh," she adds.

As for death rate, Delhi has the highest rate in the country, while Maharashtra and Gujarat have a very high death rate.  Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, too, have a higher death rate than the national average.  This is as per Ravi's study.
