'iSmart Shankar' promoted as a mass sci-fi
'iSmart Shankar' has always been thought to be a mass actioner but the makers have started to describe their product as a "mass science-fiction action entertainer". This is because Ram Pothineni's character's brain is hacked and the cells of a sleuth are put in his brain in the film. This element is inspired by a Hollywood film titled 'Criminal'.
"So far, we have seen sci-fi films being classy. 'iSmart Shankar' is the first sci-fi that is a mass one," says actress Nabha Natesh, who romances Ram in this Puri Jagannadh directorial.
There is a reason why sci-fi films are made as class entertainers. Can the genre sit well with the mass genre? We will know it on July 18.
The film has music by Mani Sharma, and Nidhhi Agerwal plays a neuro-scientist.
