Varaimuthu, the well known Tamil lyricist and poet, was last year in the news when playback singer Chinmayi Sripada outed his name during the Me Too movement. And, latest, he has invited criticism and trolling for saying something unusual related to South India.
"If you want to know South India and its culture, you need Tamil," he has been quoted saying.
Following this, Varaimuthu has been trolled by non-Tamils. "South India is not some homogenous entity. You don't need Tamil to understand Telugu culture. As a Telugu, I found that learning Hindi and Kannada much more intuitive and easier than learning Tamil," said Ram, a social media influencer.
Wish the lyricist understood the ramifications of his views before mouthing them recklessly.
