Mahua Moitra's speech in Parliament draws applause
She is a first-time Member of Parliament. She is from West Bengal and recently won on a TMC ticket. She is Mahua Moitra, whose maiden speech in the Parliament is drawing accolades from all around.
In her speech, Moitra said that there are "Seven signs of fascism" in the country under the NDA regime: Narrow and xenophobic nationalism, disdain for human rights, co-opting of mass media, obsession with national security, disdain for intellectuals and the arts, suppression of dissent, and mixing religion and governance.
While her speech was spirited, Moitra resorted to the usual scaremongering that the Opposition forces have been known for since 2014.
Go, Mahua Moitra! Listing the 7 signs of fascism for the House, in the House, and pulling no punches. https://t.co/sGKIBy8NJu— Mitali Saran (@mitalisaran) June 25, 2019
