Mumbai Indians' IPL opener jinx continues...
Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians have lost their IPL opener to Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore. As Indian skipper, Virat who hasn't won the toss has won for the first time as RCB skipper after a long time. Virat also expressed his happiness and astonishment after winning the toss.
Virat won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. In this slow pitch, Mumbai Indians made only 159/9 and RCB chased down the total with two wickets left. This is not the first time, Mumbai Indians have lost their opening match. Since 2013, this opener curse is haunting Mumbai Indians. MI has lost the 9th successive opening game in the IPL.
Over the loss, Skipper Rohit Sharma said that this is just the first game and a lot more to play. Talking about positivities in yesterday match, Rohit lauded bowler Marco Jansen proved that he could bowl in any situation and he appreciated the batting skills of ABD who took RCB to the victory shore.
Until 2020, MI has been continuing the custom of IPL trophy in odd years. For the first time, it broke that jinx and won the IPL trophy last year in UAE. MI has won five IPL trophies so far. On the other hand, RCB won their first-ever opening game after 2019.
