Nation celebrates PV Sindhu's dream achievement
PV Sindhu has made the nation proud by becoming the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships on Sunday.  She defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-7, 21-7 in 36 minutes flat in what was a clear-cut one-sided final in Basel.

Sindhu's splendid achievement has come to be celebrated, especially because no Indian player has ever pulled off such a spectacular feat in a prestigious final at any time in recent history.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted out his appreciation in no time.  "It is a special day for Indian badminton! Delighted that Sai Praneeth brings home a Bronze from the BWF World Championships 2019. This is a significant accomplishment and we all salute his tenacity as well as untiring efforts," he said.

"In a country where we are still grappling with huge gender inequality, #PVSindhu is one who stands tall and sets an example by winning the World Badminton Championship. She taught us what gender equality is all about and a world that we must aspire to be," noted Praneet Kaur, a former Minister of State.
