The Telugu film industry is going through one of the worst phases currently. The going has become so tough that even rental payments have become a headache for producers. The revenues have hit rock bottom.
In the words of producer D Suresh Babu, the general state of the economy being dull has taken its toll this season. He also blames the OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon, which are keeping the audience away from cinemas. The Suresh Productions supremo adds that the quality of content being poor is also a dampener in the case of Telugu cinema.
He adds that rural women are staying away from cinemas like never before. "And even youths are clinging to digital sites nowadays," he says.
