Rich tributes pour in after TN Seshan's demise
TN Seshan, who was India's 10th CEC, passed away on Sunday night. He had been suffering from health issues. The celebrated election commissioner was one of the most feared bureaucrats India ever saw. He would instill fear in his opponents. Known for his impeccable integrity, Seshan changed the way elections were conducted in India.
Condoling the legend's death, Prime Minister Modi said, "Shri TN Seshan was an outstanding civil servant. He served India with utmost diligence and integrity. His efforts towards electoral reforms have made our democracy stronger and more participative. Pained by his demise. Om Shanti."
President of India Ramnath Kovind noted, "Sad to learn about the passing of Shri T. N. Seshan. He was a distinguished civil servant. Shri Seshan’s stint as Chief Election Commissioner marked an epochal phase of electoral reforms. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends."
Former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu had this to say: "Pained by the demise of former CEC Sri TN Seshan. A man of unquestionable integrity and honesty, his contribution to strengthening our nation's election process will remain in our memories. He will be an inspiration to future generations."
