Russia approves anti-Covid vaccine, 20 countries place orders

On Tuesday, Russia officially became the globe's first country to approve an anti-coronavirus vaccine.  Vladimir Putin said that it was developed by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute.   In an attempt to instill confidence about the efficacy and safety of the vaccine, Putin said that his daughter has been inoculated by a dose of the vaccine already.

Much as the news is good, there are concerns about its safety and effectiveness, CNN and other international publications have said.   "There are concerns that the country is rushing the process for political purposes," a CNN report said.

Meanwhile, the country also claimed that a billion doses of the new vaccine have been ordered by as many as 20 countries.
