Telangana CM KCR dedicated Engineering Marvel Kaleshwaram project to the nation
Today, World's Largest Irrigation Scheme, Kaleshwaram has inaugurated with the traditional pooja ceremony. For this grand event, AP CM YS Jagan and Maharashtra CM Dev Fadnavis, and the Governor ESL Narasimhan have attended.
India's Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited(MEIL) has completed this Engineering Marvel in a record span of three years. Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme is the World's Largest one. Till date, the Colorado Lift Scheme in America and the Great Man-Made River in Egypt are considered as the world's biggest lift irrigation schemes in the world.
Now, Kaleshwaram project has emerged as World's Largest Lift Irrigation scheme. It requires 7,152 MW of electricity to pump 3 TMC of water daily. In the first phase, it pumps 2 TMC water utilizing 4,992 MW of electricity.
It comprises of three barrages, 1531KM of gravity canals, 203 KM of tunnels, 20 Lifts, 19 pump houses, and 20 reservoirs with a total capacity of 147 TMC of water.
With Kaleshwaram project, 37 lakh acres of irrigation land is benefitting. Yes, truly it is an engineering marvel.
