Tharoor praises Imran Khan, BJP slams him
On Tipu Sultan's death anniversary the other day, Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a tribute to the Islamic ruler through a tweet. This had Congress leader Shashi Tharoor laud Khan.
"One thing I personally know about @imranKhanPTI is that his interest in the shared history of the Indian subcontinent is genuine & far-reaching. He read; he cares. It is disappointing, though, that it took a Pakistani leader to remember a great Indian hero on his punyathithi," Tharoor tweeted out.
Expectedly, the BJP has hit out at Tharoor for praising the Pak PM. "His love for the neighbours and hate for our leaders is very well known. He uses choicest abuses for our leaders, and has a great love for people across the border. He has to think what he is doing is right or not," Ram Madhav of the saffron party today said.
Tipu has been a bone of contention in the Karnataka politics in the last few years. Occasionally, his legacy is contested by the national BJP as well.
