Tom Cruise' Mission Impossible: Fall Out misrepresented Indian map
Prasoon Joshi, the chief of the CBFC, has told a news agency that Tom Cruise’s 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' originally had improper Kashmir references. The producers were asked to rectify or remove the references "as the integrity of India’s borders is non-negotiable”.
Besides misrepresenting the boundaries of J&K, the Hollywood film also refers to Kashmir as an India-controlled territory. “Integrity of our country’s borders are non-negotiable and cannot be compromised on for the sake of entertainment,” Joshi has been quoted as saying.
The film, which has received the best openings in India in Cruise's career, also comes with a disclaimer: “The film neither intends to hurt the feelings/sentiments nor means to defame persons of any region, community, nationality, religion or organisation”.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film was eventually released after the changes were made.
